Battling The Olde Stage Fire

"Intelagard the mountain". Using the Macaw pack and the Wildland Intercept, Intelagard's compressed air foam systems were used to contain and extinguish the Olde Stage Fire. (Boulder County, 01/2009). The ability to expand on-board resources as compressed air foam proved a fast and efficient way to help contain the fire. The Wildland Intercept's monitor, operated from inside the cab, was used to lay down a blanket of foam as the unit rolled along. The Macaw packs were used to "Intelagard the mountain", laying down additional blankets of foam along a fireline, holding back the fire.

"The Macaw pack proved to be a time saving tool during a critical firing operation. We were able to begin the firing operation in 15 minutes and completed it before the main fire could impact us. The packs are a great alternative and are more nimble and practical."
