We want to hear from you! How are you using the Macaw?
Fire Chief Eddie Rodriguez of Maricopa, AZ, uses the Macaw for bee removal. The majority of land around Maricopa is farm land, where cotton and vegetables are grown. The area has experienced a problem with bees that pollenate in almost anything. When they migrate into the trees in residential areas, the Fire Department gets the call. Early morning or late afternoon, the bees tend to group and form something like a ball. In that state, fire personnel will put on a bee suit, strap on the Macaw, and in just a few seconds of spraying the bees fall on the ground, dead. There's no clean up other than what's sprayed, although you have to clean up windows.
The former Fire Chief had ordered the unit. The Fire Department has been using the Macaw for 4 to 5 years, maybe a little longer than that. Said Rodriguez, "It works excellent!" He's not sure whose idea it was to use it on the bees. The Macaw's low maintenance makes it convenient, just a little soapy water kills the bees. Concentrated foam also does the job.
Thanks for the story, Chief!
